Other groups working in the area

If you didn't reach this page from Groups known to have worked in Totes Gebirge caves please go and read that first.

The principal reference must be to the local Austrian caving group, the
Verein für Höhlenkunde im
Obersteier.
Follow their links page to find more local clubs

The German Arbeitsgemeinschaft
Höhle und Karst Grabenstetten e.V. (ARGE) is still active in the area and
cooperating on friendly terms with CUCC. They have recently carried out much
exploration in the southern area around Stellerweghöhle, including the most major
discovery in the plateau in recent years, the connection of the
Stellerweghöhle/Eishöhle system to Kaninchenhöhle.

Lancaster University
Speleological Society had expeditions in Austria in 1987 and 1988. A report of the 1987
expedition is on the SLUGS copy of their old archived website <a

University of
Bristol Spelæological Society were present on the 1981 and 1982
expeditions as a guest club, and also independently in 1989 and 1990 (we
believe; these last two trips were clandestine, and records are unsurprisingly
rather sparse.)

Groups working in adjacent areas

The Landesverein für

1626 kataster area.

To our south in the Dachstein, in the 1543 and 1546 kataster areas, the
local group is Verein
für Höhlenkunde Hallstatt - Obertraun.

A group based around the

have been exploring in the
Dachstein since the 1970's.

University of Leeds Speleological
Association worked in the Tauplitz area in the mid-eighties. Note: All
old ULSA addresses should probably look here instead.
