<h2>161 Kaninchenhöhle: Drunk and Stupid</h2>
|
|
|
|
<p>On <a href="drunk.htm#ttwenty">The Twenty</a>, the initial 20m rift pitch,
|
|
there is a possible route 10m down the pitch, and a tight side rift to an
|
|
undescended pitch at the bottom. The hole in the floor beneath the boulders
|
|
is about 10m deep to a dead end chamber.
|
|
|
|
<p><a name="iropet">At the bottom</a> of the 30m pitch
|
|
(<a href="drunk.htm#tthirty">The Thirty</a>), there is a very tight rift
|
|
leading back which is too tight, and also a parallel rift to the main one,
|
|
reached by a 7m climb up, <b>Indian Rope Trick</b> to find a bolt to rig it
|
|
more safely. This point can also be reached by some tight thutching up a rift
|
|
(on 030°). The rift heads down (bearing 190°) and enlarges with a 15m
|
|
pitch to a ledge at the limit of exploration in 1989
|
|
[<a href="qmtodo.htm#C1989-161-09" name="qC1989-161-09">C1989-161-09</a> A]. Anyone exploring this
|
|
should find a hammer dropped on 27th August 1989, but voice communication
|
|
suggests the route may reenter D&S lower down.
|
|
|
|
<p><a name="dns20mposs">On</a> the next <a href="drunk.htm#dns20m">20m
|
|
pitch</a>, there are several possibilities. Descending the pitch, 10m
|
|
down is a ledge and a good natural rebelay. From this ledge a 1m diameter
|
|
tube descends a series of climbs and continues unexplored
|
|
[<a href="qmtodo.htm#C1989-161-13" name="qC1989-161-13">C1989-161-13</a> B].
|
|
At the bottom of the 20m pitch is a 3m diameter chamber with nice fossil
|
|
bivalves set in the floor. A very tight damp rift,
|
|
[<a href="qmtodo.htm#C1989-161-10" name="qC1989-161-10">C1989-161-10</a> B?],
|
|
heads off from one side. <a name="whiteh">At the other</a> side is a very
|
|
tight squeeze through an eyehole, <b>White Hole</b>, into a neighbouring
|
|
shaft (<a href="drunk.htm#parauniv">Parallel Universe</a>) which is part of
|
|
the main continuation of <a href="drunk.htm">Drunk & Stupid.</a>
|
|
|
|
<h4><a name="hpad">Helipad</a> (1989)</h4>
|
|
|
|
<p>There are several routes from <a href="drunk.htm#helipad">this
|
|
chamber</a>. At the far end is a stream inlet (the route on to French
|
|
Connection is to its right)
|
|
[<a name="qC1989-161-17" href="qmtodo.htm#C1989-161-17">C1989-161-17</a> C].
|
|
However, the rocks in the inlet look extremely loose and it has never been
|
|
ascended. The stream disappears into boulders in the floor and it is possible
|
|
to climb down through the boulders to an undescended pitch
|
|
[<a name="qC1989-161-18" href="qmtodo.htm#C1989-161-18">C1989-161-18</a> C].
|
|
|
|
<p><a name="deadandb">Immediately</a> to the left of the boulder climb is a
|
|
5m section of 2m high passage that ends at an 8m pitch, <b>Dead and
|
|
Buried</b>. All ways on from the bottom of the pitch were too tight. The tiny
|
|
rift at the far side is the other route from <a href="drunk.htm#fcc">French
|
|
Connection Chamber</a>.
