Wookey looking up the unclimbed ice-column of question mark
C0000-40-03 in
Schneevulkanhalle of Schwarzmooskogeleishöhle. This is about 10m
of vertical ice in late summer, but would apparently be much easier earlier
in the season, before the ice had eroded this much. When seen in May 2000,
the angle was much easier, more like 60 or 70° rather than vertical. The
lead was not tackled on Expo 1999, as there seemed more promising things
available. However, as more was explored and some geological information
became available, it looks increasingly as though this climb would be worth
tackling.

The climb was pushed in 2000 by Olly Betts. The ice was in similar poor
condition to the photo, so he bolted up the rock to the side, and discovered
the Mission Impossible series, which came to within less than 40m of
Steinschlagschacht without a connection being found.
