The German route was looked at in 1980 (a complete description is in Cambridge Underground 1981) and the survey appears here only for completeness. This route starts soon after the 41 entrance by turning right instead of left (see main survey). Exploration ceased 140m below the start of the pitches when the way on became tight - this was 180m below the entrance. It undoubtedly drops back into the system lower down, but was not felt to be worth pushing.
