The impoverished mainly-undergraduate expedition of 1978 produced its base camp mess tent from a tent-frame which someone was throwing out and a 24 foot square sheet of heavy gauge polythene. This made a splendid place to watch the Austrian thunderstorms but also formed the most effective fly and wasp trap base camp has ever had.
