Topcamp - Topcamp Setup
+Awake at 6:30am, a speedy breakfast and a speedy bag check, and we were on our way to the toll road by around 7:10. The walk up the col and across the plateau went nice and smoothly and we were up there by just after 10am (Chris, Harry, and Hannah were up even earlier). +

+ +We quickly set about unpacking the storage cave, and by 11am everything was out. Solar panels were set up, stuff was moved into Stoneybridge, and a water tarp was rigged. We also discovered that the snacks drum had a lot of loose peanuts in it. Given Dan's allergies, we moved this (along with anything else we found to be containing nuts) back into the storage cave for use only once he's left the expedition. +

+We then we had a lunch break before beginning the long and arduous process of setting up the ropes for the tarp. There was a lot of searching for bolts and scrutinising old photos of the tarp setup involved, but we eventually got the ropes into a state that looked like it would support a tarp without it tipping water on all our heads. By this point it was getting late, so we decided to leave tarp rigging for the next day. +

+ +We set up the second water tarp, then headed down the hill, reflectoring maybe a third of the route back to the col. We planned to do the whole route, but the reflectors we brought were those from base camp, and we think those were probably just spares, rather than ones taken off the route last year, as there were nowhere near enough. The ones used last year must be some of the ones still at top camp. +

+We also had a little trouble finding the battery, but this was eventually found in the Stoneybridge connection to the Animal Hole. +

+ +The reflectors are oriented so that white is to topcamp, and red is to the col. However, a few of the most col-ward reflectors we used were unfortunately white on both sides. These should ideally be swapped out whenever the rest of the route gets reflectored. +
