Planting more trees when you have the chance is generally a good thing, especially if you just freed up loads of land due to cutting down on the excessive production of high-carbon cows and sheep. But they do have to be the right sorts in the right places, with a plan to look after them for at least a decade othwise most will die and you just wasted a lot of time/effort/money. But it's no substitue for actual emissions reductions.
