+13m freeclimb dropped onto a steep snowslope requiring a handline. This was descended for 10m to a steep boulder slope which funnelled down to a small hole through which stones dropped for a long time. The large amounts of scree made descent unwise. Above the boulder slope, a phreatic passage led quickly to a big hole in the floor. The hole is a fine free-hanging descent of 36m to a solid choke of boulders. The original 1970s exploration norted that the phreatic passage continues beyond the pitch and trends uphill, but that it was not reached. +
+ ++A revisit in 2012 bolted across this traverse and attempted to thoroughly check for any other missed leads. The main find was tracing the source of the draught to a flat-out crawl under a large boulder ("Under a Rock") near the base of the entrance chamber slope which drops into a passage ("Down Under") which connects to 107 near the base of its first real pitch. 107 has since been connected to 161, so 83 is part of the SMK-system too. 83 also comes tantalisingly close to both 82 (~20m and at a similar level) and to 148 (~16m horizontally, with 148 20-30m below), but there aren't promising leads. +
