Austria has some fine canyons but they tend to be pretty cold so find a wetsuit that fits. Strubklamm and Grabenbach are the two that have been done several times by expoers.
Strubklamm is great fun and can be entirely jumped, although most people will want to abseil at least a couple of the pitches. It's suitable for novice caver-canyoners. There is a long swimming canal at the end so can be cold, especially with the usual cast of thousands. It's quite a long drive as it's nearly all the way back to Salzburg. Descent-canyon info.
