<h1>Expo 2005: Surface work hitlist</h1>
<p>This is essentially a QM list for surface work, combined with a
documentation to-do list, intended to record things that need exploring or
surveying outside our main target caves. This list is maintained by Dave, as
kataster administrator.</p>

<li>Not to be outdone, Earl and Becka went for a walk with Martin's GPS in 2003

<li><a href="../../smkridge/2001-03/2001-03.html">2001-03</a>: this has

<li>Huge bag of caves, 2003-X11 to 2003-X18, GPSsed by Earl + Becka in 2003 and
promptly forgotten about; need re-finding, marking, and surveying where
appropriate (they vary from the done to the completely undescended).</p>
2005-05-07 15:54:54 +01:00
<li>161G + H: currently numbered as 2003-06 and 2004-12 respectively; to be

<li>The rest of Earl + Becka's 2003-Xnn caves, at least two of which probably
need a proper survey, and all of them need to be re-found and re-marked.</li>

<h3>Stuff near 76</h3>
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
<ul>
<li>Jenny and Olly did a day's surface prospecting walking from the 76 bivi to
the local high point roughly to the West. Unfortunately the GPS randomly reset
and lost the coordinates so caves 2004-05 to 09 need relocating and tagging.
Also might be worthwhile getting more pics/GPS coordinates of 174, 175,
and 176 which aren't far away.
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
</li>
<li><a href="../../plateau/2004-03/2004-03.html">2004-03</a> is on
2005-06-20 02:53:47 +01:00
the route from top camp and needs tagging, GPSing and
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
a close-up photo taking.</li>
<li><a href="../../plateau/104/104.html">104</a> needs a tag before the last traces
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
of paint weather away. There's
even a spit (though it could be a bit rusty). It's probably close enough to be
worth a surface survey to.</li>
<li><a
href="../../plateau/108/108.html">108</a> needs a tag
(it already has a spit).
</li>
<li><a href="../../plateau/1999-OB-02/1999-OB-02.html">99OB02</a> needs
relocating and GPSing. It already has a tag.</li>

<li><a href="../../plateau/1999-OB-01/1999-OB-01.html">99OB01</a> needs
relocating, GPSing, and tagging.</li>
<li>Find the cave with a rock next to it with <i>177?</i> painted on it
in blue paint. Retrieve rock to throw at Waddington!</li>
<li>Possibly look for <a href="../../plateau/177.htm">Tantalusschacht (177)</a>
(if you believe it really exists) and also <a
href="../../plateau/178.htm">178</a> and <a
href="../../plateau/179.htm">179</a>. But they're all unmarked, and several
past attempts to locate 179 have failed.

<h3>Other areas</h3>
<ul>
<li>Three caves in the vicinity of Eish&ouml;hle &ndash; are currently tagged
with incorrect Kataster numbers and <a href="../2004/kataster2004.html">need
retagging</a>.</li>
2005-05-21 16:41:04 +01:00
<li>Sort out confusion over <a href="../../smkridge/157.htm">157</a>, <a
href="../../smkridge/bogen.html">Bogenh&ouml;hle</a> and other caves near laser
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
point 0/5 (can easily be done en route to 204.)</li>
2005-05-21 16:41:04 +01:00
<li>Retag <a href="../../plateau/2000-aa-01.html">2000-AA-01</a> (middle
plateau 200m north of Top Camp) with proper kataster number when this has been
allocated.</li>
<li>Survey <a href="../../plateau/171/171.html">171</a>, which is near 2000-AA-01,
2005-05-21 16:41:04 +01:00
and is apparently quite long (&gt;100m) although not very deep.</li>
<li>Wander round Kratzer valley with a tagging kit and a decent modern GPS, in
the hope of relocating <a href="../../kratzer/71.htm">71</a>
(Fledermaush&ouml;hle), which is quite a substantial cave (347m long, 95m deep
&ndash; by far the biggest of the Kratzer caves). It was surveyed in some
detail way back in 1976 but no surface survey was made so we don't know where
it is.</li>
<li><a href="../../plateau/1996_05.html">1996-05</a>. This is some way to the
west of 204, in the large empty gap of northern plateau north of the usual
limit of prospecting from old Top Camp and west of the SMK ridge, and is a
substantial undescended shaft; time could profitably be spent looking for holes
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
in the surrounding area, which is largely virgin territory. <i>(This is
2005-06-20 02:53:47 +01:00
actually closer to 76, but having been there I suspect it's probably
2005-06-20 02:48:44 +01:00
best approached along the described route from near topcamp - Olly)</i></li>
